We just had to break the wonderful news to all descendants of the Silver People (Silver Roll) who have been following our progress and to all former residents of the Canal Zone townships!

Our "Silver" Cemeteries here in Panama- Mount Hope as well as Corozal Cemeteries, the resting places of our historic Silver ancestors who built the Panama Railroad and the Panama Canal- have been included on the World Monuments Fund's prestigious "100 Most Endangered Sites" for 2010.

Please visit them and get acquainted with the marvellous work they are doing for the world's cultural patrimony.

Exactly what does inclusion on this list mean?

The World Monuments Fund, a ?leading independent organization devoted to saving the world?s most treasured places? announced the publishing of their ?Watch List? world-wide on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. in their New York City offices. Through their signature advocacy tool, The World Monuments Watch, it "issues lists every other year that become a powerful call to global action on behalf of sites needing immediate help.? They actively help the people working with these sites by:

1. Providing an international focus on endangered patrimony through media communiqu?s and links to the many charitable and philanthropic organizations that work closely with them to channel financial help to these sites.

2. Offering highly skilled technical and professional assistance to architectural and heritage sites at risk of disappearing through neglect, lack of monetary resources, urban and other human encroachment, and many other causes.

3. Providing financial assistance in promoting education and awareness to the local and international communities in order to elevate consciousness as to the importance of preserving these priceless sites. In its own words,

For those of you who wish to follow up on our efforts at preserving our beloved heritage please go to our blog or our Heritage page at the links below.

Our Mailing Lists were created simply as a way for us to keep in touch as a group.

For those of you not familiar with mailing lists, well, there are several types but let me give you a brief description regarding the type of list we use here.

We only use what is known as discussion type lists.

You email to the entire group whether sending, replying or even if you cc or bcc to people not subscribed to the list.

Please, no...

1. Obscene Language
2. Sexual language
3. Anything of the above nature
4. No forwards. Emails you received from someone.
5. No chain letters that need to get back to the original sender or any email of such nature.
a. These types of email do not end up in your mailboxes just for fun and enjoyment.
b. Not to say they are all like that but we are just been safe.

Please only send email related to the Canal Zone or any other matter you will like to discuss of a reasonable nature.

Still not sure what to do? Just post to the forums!!! I will reply.

Zone Talk - is simply just that. Talks about back home but you are not limited to other topics. Just be reasonable.

CZ Updates - Well I basically send out information when I add new items to the website. You get the opportunity to know what's available before everyone else.

Dave Tech Line - I try to help you with any computer related questions you may have for free. Feel free to share your expertise as well. We can all learn.

To join any of our Mailing Lists just visit the home page!

Thanks
Dave

Hey folks

I recently received an email that appeared to be someone requesting me to update their contact info and the nature of the email seems legit at first.

If you are communicating with us or anyone in our communities please be advised that you may want to fully identify yourself with not only your first and last name but maybe also your email address, phone number or whatever else may apply. Use your discretion.

The reason is because spammers are a very shameless bunch and they try to duplicate what they think we communicate with each other in the subject line and body of their emails and they appear to be legitimate and you may either end up responding to a spammer or accidentally deleting someone's important emails.

PLEASE understand that I am not asking you to place any of our personal info in any public place on this website!

The choice is yours. Just a heads up.
