Have used/use the Panama Canal today?

I'm working on a history project and need to know specifics of it Columbia and other Latin/South American countries used the Panama Canal after it's opening in 1914. Columbia obviously stood opposed to the Canal, and I need to know if they, even though opposed, used the Canal to its benefit.
