CZ FAQ

1.   How did Paraiso CZ come about?

It came about as a result of not been able to find much on the internet about my home town as well as the other towns that we grew up around.

But it was originally created as a past time hobby and was only intended for Paraiso. But don’t get me wrong, I mean only Paraiso because it was going to be a site for me and a few of my friends that grew up there.

I had no idea that anyone else will take interest in the website. So it was only then that I decided to expand it to show my appreciation to the entire community for their love and support for the website. You could not pay me enough to believe that this website would have ever gone beyond my original plans.

2.   Why did you choose the name Paraiso & Canal Zone Towns? Why not CZ Towns or something else?

Well, I did consider other names after the site was already built and many people started visiting the site. But it was chosen simply because I grew up there and for no other reason. Also remember that it was only a small site for only myself and just a few of my friends at the time so any other name would have been irrelevant. But as others began to take interest, I decided to add the “and Canal Zone Towns” portion to it.

3.   What are other people saying about the website?

We hear some awesome things from folks that just love this site and won’t have it any other way. They connect with many lost friends either via the message board, guestbook or the chatroom.

4.   Why can’t we see more content on the site?

Well we cannot supply what we do not have. We wish that people will submit to us more content for the site simply because we have exhausted the little we did have.

5.   Is the site active?

I will say yes. I can testify to you that it absolutely works as I have found some old friends myself. Popular spots are “Find A Friend” “Chat Room”, Year Books, and “Forums”. What people are mostly looking for are old friends to make contact with or to talk to for the most part.

6.   How can the site be improved?

By the help of other people. Don’t get me wrong. We will never hold anyone accountable for this.

But as far as I am concerned, the site have already accomplished its original goals. So from here on out we are only striving to make it better for the people. They can send in materials, photos, or whatever they feel will enhance the website if they so desire.

7.   How does this site relate to other similar zone sites?

I truly do believe that we have added one of the last pieces to the puzzle. Prior to ParaisoCZ I wasn’t able to find anything on these other towns while surfing.

8.   We noticed that the site seems to get a new look every so often. Any reason for that?

Absolutely! I love changes! I am really a graphic artist and just love changes just for the fun of it and really for no other reason. I am not necessarily concerned with the best looking website though that would be nice. But the time it takes to do that is more than I can spare for a website that brings in no income whatsoever. Apparently, I am also a webmaster but that is only because it comes with the territory.

And now for the personal questions…

9.   Do you surf other zone related sites?

Years back, yes. Today, no. Not hardly anyway. What I mean is not for fun for the most part so of course that will also include other zone sites. But it has absolutely NOTHING to do with not surfing other zone related websites. I am just not into surfing like that. Not saying that would never change however.

10.   Do you miss the Canal Zone?

Not necessarily. I guess I’ve grown up to the point where I don’t really have to live there anymore. But I am still very much in love with it however. I also know lots of people who want to go back home but not necessarily to the home towns they grew up in. I am going to add a note here and I hope I make this clear. To this very day [not the date that this FAQ was written!!!] I still have many dreams frequently about back home, my home town, panama and other areas. My dreams include families, classmates, relatives and friends. The dreams NEVER stop!

11.   Awesome! Do you have lots of friends now or friends you grew up with?

Very little friends and most of my friends are those I grew up with. But with Dave, everyone is very much welcomed.

12.   Do you think that growing up in the Canal Zone was of any benefit?

There were some benefits but we severely lacked information in many areas and therefore many of us missed out on a whole lot as a result. Hopefully we've learned much over the years where we were lacking.

13.   What do you know about what is going on back home right now?

Hardly much. LOL! I will say that for the most part, most people will know more than I do. But I do get some news here and there.

14.    Are you religious?

NO. But I am a Born Again Christian.

15. Could you clarify that for me as well as the people reading this?

Religion is more like rituals that people do in order to gain favor with God. They think that by their hard work they will be saved or get God to love them more than everyone else.

Also to some, religion means different groups of people with another view of God.  So they throw us all into one big bowl and come up with this huge salad called RELIGION!

Christ [ianity] on the other hand is something you do from the heart because you are already saved and truly LOVE The Lord. We are not saved by works. Salvation is a free gift and once you receive it you are MADE righteous regardless of your works.

But it can also be a matter of semantics because I do many things religiously but it has nothing to do with my salvation. Salvation is a free gift. Free to all who ask for it. John 3.15-18
